Don’t underestimate the power of a thank you note.

I’m serious! Thank you notes might still feel like something your mom would make you do to appease the relatives, but in reality they make a huge difference in how someone sees you. Sending a thank you note after an interview sets you apart from the crowd and paints you as thoughtful and considerate. Giving thank you notes to your staff shows them that they’re valued! There are so many ways that a thank you note can improve a relationship.

It’s just good manners to say thank you, so why not do it in a way that makes people feel special? Pick out a card that made you think of them and smile! Write a note about how they helped you move your couch up four flights of stairs without once shouting “PIVOT” and that was pretty cool of them. They’ll laugh and hang on to the card because you’ve turned it into something special.

 Greeting cards can feel mandatory, but a thank you card is purely from the heart.
